World Chocolate Masters Competition Film
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Film production for Callebaut documenting the World Chocolate Masters Southeastern Europe semi-final, where leading pastry chefs competed in a three-day chocolate challenge judged by an international panel of respected pastry and chocolate professionals, including Philippe Marand, Christophe Morel, Emmanuel Ryon, Ilias Krassas and Christos Lambrou.
The World Chocolate Masters is one of the most respected international competitions in the pastry and chocolate industry. The Southeastern Europe semi-final gathered top pastry chefs who were challenged through a series of creative and technical missions focused on chocolate craftsmanship.
During the competition Greek pastry chef Nicolas Nikolakopoulos achieved first place in the Southeastern Europe semi-final and later went on to win third place at the World Chocolate Masters global final, the highest distinction ever achieved by a Greek pastry chef in the competition.
Film Direction & Approach
The production documents the intensity of the competition, the chefs’ creative process and the technical precision behind contemporary chocolate work.
The film combines event coverage with close observation of preparation, craftsmanship and reaction, capturing both the pace of the competition and the concentration behind each challenge.
Use & Communication
The film and photographic coverage were produced alongside live coverage of the event, presented by Evi Fragkaki. Together, the material documented the competition as it unfolded and provided Callebaut with a complete set of content for presenting the event across its social media and wider communication channels.
The combination of live presentation, competition coverage, interviews and finished visual assets allowed the event to be communicated both in real time and afterwards, extending its reach beyond the audience present at the semi-final.
This production forms part of a series of film projects developed with Callebaut, including the NXT Relay Challenge campaign film and the Chocolate Academy corporate film.
