ABOUT THE PROJECT
Restaurant Identity Film | Adam Kodovas & Ex Machina
Memory in the Making evolves into a restaurant identity film for Adam Kodovas & Ex Machina: a short cinematic film built around personal narrative, sourcing philosophy and the way a chef-led restaurant defines itself.
For Adam Kodovas and Ex Machina, the story begins before the dish. It begins in the early rush of the fish market, in the choice of a humble Greek pink shrimp, and in a way of thinking where nothing is secondary and nothing is wasted.
The ingredient was selected precisely because it is small, fragile and demanding, a modest product capable of revealing a much larger culinary position. Through the film, the shrimp becomes more than a recipe. It becomes a way to speak about memory, instinct, discipline and respect.
The narrative traces how personal experience returns through the act of cooking: not as nostalgia, but as method. This is where the philosophy of Ex Machina becomes visible, through choice, transformation and zero waste what still carries value.

Creative & Production Framework
The project was developed by Vice Versa as part of the Memory in the Making series, with the objective of creating a film that would strengthen the public identity of Adam Kodovas and Ex Machina through an authored, cinematic narrative.
After approaching the chef with the concept, we selected a dish that could resonate with his holistic zero-waste philosophy. The Greek pink shrimp became the centre of the story: the body transformed into a lightly cured tartar, while the heads and remaining parts became paste, oil, powder and garum.
The production unfolded over two shooting days. One part followed the sourcing process at the fish market in Keratsini. The second took place inside Ex Machina, focusing on the execution of the recipe and the controlled rhythm of the kitchen.
Vice Versa shaped the final film through concept development, voice-over refinement and recording, cinematography, graphic elements, sound design and colour grading. Every layer was designed to support the recipe and give the chef’s philosophy the cinematic weight it deserved.
Use & Positioning
The final film functions as a high-impact branding asset for Adam Kodovas and Ex Machina. It does not simply promote a dish; it gives form to the thinking behind the restaurant.
For chefs, pastry chefs, restaurants and hospitality groups, this format offers a more intelligent alternative to conventional food content. It connects culinary creation to identity, allowing the audience to understand not only what is served, but how the people behind the brand think, source, choose and create.
Memory in the Making is designed for chef-led brands entering a more mature chapter, restaurants that need to communicate a sharper, more personal and more memorable version of themselves.
In this case, the film positions Ex Machina not only as a restaurant, but as a culinary voice shaped by memory, instinct, zero-waste thinking and creative discipline.
