ABOUT THE PROJECT

Black Soul – Conceptual portrait project

Blacksoul is a conceptual studio portrait series developed as an exploration of personal identity through objects. Each participant was invited to bring an item that carried personal meaning, allowing the portrait to shift focus from facial expression to gesture, symbolism and presence.

Production

The portraits were photographed in a  studio environment using minimal composition and directional lighting. By isolating the hands and the object, the project emphasises the relationship between the individual and what they choose to hold, turning each image into a quiet narrative.

Outcome

The resulting series forms a collection of intimate visual statements where identity is suggested rather than explicitly described. Together, the portraits reveal how personal objects can function as extensions of character, memory and experience.

This conceptual studio project reflects our broader approach to professional portrait photography, where identity and presence are translated into controlled visual language.

Portrait Photography
as Human Narrative

Professional portrait photography often begins with understanding how individuals wish to be represented. Projects such as the Blacksoul portrait series explore this relationship between identity, gesture and personal symbolism. The same approach guides our portrait commissions for actors, artists, chefs, executives and public figures.
