About the Chef

An internationally renowned artisan chocolatier, Christophe Morel’s intense passion for chocolate, his finesse in flavour harmonies, and astounding creativity quickly propelled him to the forefront. He has consecutively won prestigious awards: the 2003 Canadian Chocolate Trophy, First Prize in Chocolate at the 2005 ‘World Pastry Cup’ in Lyon, and 4th place worldwide at the 2005 ‘World Chocolate Masters’ in Paris. He was also a finalist for the prestigious title of ‘Meilleur Ouvrier de France’ (MOF), awarded to artisans who have reached the pinnacle of their craft. Since 2005, as the owner of his own Chocolaterie, he has established himself as one of the most passionate ambassadors in the world of chocolate.

Partaking in the exclusive Master Class on Chocolate Carving, led by the esteemed chocolatier Christophe Morel (@cmorelchocolatier) at the Chocolate Academy Athens, was a unique experience for any aficionado of fine chocolate artistry. As photographers, we had the opportunity to document this event, and we were enthralled by the artistry and profound expertise displayed by the chocolatier, who worked with the finest Cacao Barry chocolate (@CacaoBarryofficial).

Showpiece Unveiling: Inspired by Ancient Greek Mythology

The pinnacle of the master class was unveiling the exquisite final showpiece, ‘Zeus’: Inspired by Ancient Greek Mythology. This showpiece, a testament to the chocolatier’s unparalleled skill and artistic vision, was a striking homage to the grandeur of Greek mythology. The transformation of the chocolate, from mere blocks of Cacao Barry into a stunning representation of Zeus, was a sight to behold. The intricacy of the chocolate carving, the precision of each detail, and the flawless execution were genuinely awe-inspiring. We were consistently struck by the dedication and passion that infused every step of the process. 

Chef Morel’s hands moved with the grace and confidence of a seasoned artist, bringing the chocolate to life.
The chocolate’s rich, velvety texture and exceptional quality were evident in the final showpiece’s smooth and polished finish.
As always, Chocolate Academy Athens provided an ideal setting for this chocolate carving master class. Its elegant ambience perfectly complimented the sophistication of the event. The atmosphere was charged with creativity and inspiration as participants and onlookers alike were captivated by the chocolatier’s remarkable talent.
